Our Annual Fundraiser
Once each year, the California Bach Society presents a fundraiser — a festive occasion where the chorus, our donors, supporters and subscribers, and fabulous guest performers enjoy an afternoon of music, benefiting the California Bach Society. We offer a variety of music, often the works of our namesake Johann Sebastian Bach, in a more intimate atmosphere — where there is less separation of performer and audience — and we get to see musicians up close. Delectable food and fine wines, festive decor, and fun memorabilia abound! And we offer the audience a chance to choose the program — guests bid for their favorite aria from our guest soloists, and the winning arias are performed at the end of the afternoon. Our benefit concerts are a wonderful way for us to meet and get to know our audience and to express our appreciation for their support. We could not do this without your continuing contributions and encouragement.
Take a gander at previous years' festivities:

Celebrating Bach
Sunday, January 24, 2010
4:00 - 6:00 pm
All Saints' Church, Palo Alto
Celebrate with us! It will be a real party, with beautiful music, birthday cakes, candles, champagne, and more. Previewing our April performances of Bach's St. John Passion, both the choir and the audience will sing chorales from this masterpiece. Rodney Gehrke will showcase some of Bach's organ works, and once again, you'll have a chance to choose what our soloists perform — Arias by Request! The singers will preview several selections, and the audience bids to hear its favorites.
This event is a fundraiser for the California Bach Society, and all proceeds will go towards bringing audiences more of Bach's music. Invite your friends and order your tickets by January 21 for a special afternoon.
About the Soloists
Brian Thorsett
Ann Moss
We feel very fortunate to have the wonderful soprano Ann Moss and tenor Brian Thorsett join Artistic Director and counter-tenor Paul Flight to present a selection of Bach's loveliest arias. Ann Moss enjoys an active career in chamber music, opera, oratorio and recital performance. Recently she was a soloist in Schubert's Mass in G with American Bach Soloists, Haydn's Paukenmesse with Oakland Symphony Chorus, Kuhnau's Magnificat and Zelenka's Requiem with Chora Nova, and Handel's Dixit Dominus with Bay Choral Guild. This fall, Bay Area audiences have seen Brian Thorsett in the roles of Mercury, Spirit and The Sailor in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra. Brian's concert engagements have included Evangelist in both Bach's St. John and St. Matthew Passions, Rossini's Stabat Mater, and Haydn's Lord Nelson and Theresa Masses.
Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. You may purchase tickets at the advance price until 5 pm on January 21.
Online ticket ordering is disabled. Please purchase tickets at the door; the box office opens at 3:45pm.
